Traces of Histories is a continuation of a collaboration of sorts between, Photographer Barrie Jones and Painter, Phillip McCrum. Each artists' practice covers similar areas of concern. Jones usesphotography to index the traces of historical activity and maps the echo of theHuman Condition. Past and present are reflected in the work unraveling deepconnections to a material relationship to the world and the consequences ofthat relationship. McCrum examine communication system overlap. Systems thatform environments that determine ethical behavior almost outside the realm ofconsciousness. This includes themes such as our relationship to the machine(keyboard), behavior determined by banal social acts, like walking on a sidewalk, and the simple act of viewing art.
